Collection: 1896

We believe the year 1896 should be as important to diasporic Africans as the year 1492 is to the western world.

The historic 1896 victory at the Battle of Adwa was a significant moment in African history symbolizing resistance against European colonialism. The battle inspired Pan-Africanism and movements for independence across Africa and the diaspora, challenging perceptions of African inferiority and influencing global diplomacy.

Reflecting on the symbolism of Africa inverted:

Many overlook that Earth is a sphere in motion, where directional labels like 'up' or 'down' are arbitrary.

The ancient civilizations along the banks of the Nile Valley seemed to have a keen overstanding of "perspective".

Ancient Egypt was divided into two regions, Upper and Lower. Yet the maps of that region show Upper Egypt to the south and lower egypt to the north.

Just think about that.

Coincidentily an inverted African continent eerily resembles the historic maps of the Ancient Kingdom of Abyssinia aka Ethiopia.

They are one and the same (Africa and Ethiopia), theoretically and athropologically.

All life did in fact emerge from that ancient cradle of civilization along the Nile. Right?
